About this website
This page aims to tell you what motivates us and what the objectives of this website
are - and other related matters.
Ownership:
The website is owned and operated by naturists of many years standing,
who are members of the UK naturists' organisation (CCBN) and INF, and
who own property for their own use and for rental at Vera Playa. Many
other resident, owners and visitors are also getting involved in the development
of the site.
Objectives of www.veraplaya.info :
The objectives of this website are:
1. To make information about the whole of the Vera Playa naturist
zone and all the individual developments within it available to visitors
and owners/residents. This will, inevitably, mean that a "warts
and all" approach is needed, saying what is not so good, or is going
wrong, as well as what is good and is going well. We think that most visitors
to the website will realise that nowhere is absolutely perfect and that
it is better to come to a resort where you know both the good and bad
points than to know only the facts that promoters or holiday operators
would prefer you to know. We realize that this may not please some potential
advertisers - such as property developers/promoters. We take the view
that, important as they are in shaping what the Vera Playa naturist zone
is like, the property developers are, inevitably, transitory. When their
developments are finished and sold they'll be out of here. Individual
apartment and house owners, owners of hotels, restaurants, bars and shops
- and visitors - are the ones with a long term interest in the success
of the development. That's whom we want this website to serve well for
many years to come.
2. To help foster a sense of identity for the naturist zone as a whole
- owners of apartments are members of the communities in which their property
is situated (Under Spanish law, urbanizacions have self-governing democratically
run bodies to run the common services etc - in some cases it may take
some time to free themselves of ties to the original promoter - but it
does happen eventually!). As more and more apartments, duplexes, studios
and houses are built at Vera Playa there is a risk that people will identify
with just their own urbanicazion and not feel themselves to be citizens
of the Vera Playa naturist zone as a whole. We hope this website can help
foster this wider identity and we are willing to make web facilities available
free of charge, both to individual communities and to any residents or
owners association which may form. If this interests you, why not use
our on-line forum to propose something and get things moving?
3. To provide a forum for discussion and reflection on the issues
which may/will arise as the naturist zone grows and matures. Until
now most of the visitors to and property owners at Vera Playa have been
traditional naturists, often INF members and members of naturist or sun
clubs in their original home areas - or they were people new to naturism
trying it out to see whether it suited them. Now, as the amount of accommodation
grows dramatically and the numbers of visitors similarly increases, people
other than traditional naturists or aspirant naturists may be expected
to be visiting and buying as well. The commercial interests around the
zone have, with one or two notable exceptions, not been very successful
up until now - due, no doubt, to there being insufficient customers to
sustain them. Now that is beginning to change as more and more developments
are built and completed and businesses are coming in which, understandably,
are keen to offer what will sell and enable them to be viable. The recent
opening of a "Swingers Club" at Vera Natura and of other clubs
in the commercial centre near the hotel is an illustration of how, over
time, the character of the whole development could/may change from being
a naturist metropolis to being a sex metropolis. It's a long way off at
the moment, but it is a vital issue for the future. It is salutary to
remember that few developments of man actually turn out the way their
original creators/architects envisaged! Again, if you have views on these
issues, now's the time for exercising them, not in 5 or 10 years time
when change is irreversible.
How can you get to this website?
Our primary domain is www.veraplaya.info
However we also have a number of other domain names which also bring you
to this website:
www.vera-playa.info
www.veraplaya.biz
www.vera-playa.biz
www.veraplaya.org
www.vera-playa.org
www.veraplaya.co.uk
www.vera-playa.co.uk
www.veraplaya.net
www.vera-playa.net
You might be forgiven for thinking that we have cornered the market in
Vera Playa domain names - which is normal commercial practice. Unfortunately,
however, we haven't, though we would like to tell the owners of any of
the variations that we don't own - e.g veraplaya.com and vera-playa.com
- that we would be happy to take their names off their hands if they're
not using them...
Why in English?
Several people have asked why the site is in English and not, say, in Spanish.
There are several good and simple reasons for this:
1. We speak English
2. There was no English language website about Vera Playa as a whole
3. There are websites in several other languages, including Spanish
4. We are not competent to produce web pages in Spanish, French, German
or any other language.
However, we would be delighted to produce versions of this website in
other languages - and especially Spanish - if someone would like to produce
the translations please (but website revenues do not at the present -
and are unlikely to for a long time - enable us to pay for translation
services)
