It's OK to be nude anywhere in Spain. We are talking about where it's expected to be so.  Shocked
Whilst I'm sure you're technically correct, the reality is that people don't routinely wander around naked in Spain in places which aren't designated as naturist areas.  And as Vera Playa is such a huge naturist development, you'd expect - at the very least - that the naturist zone would be clearly defined.

It's legally correct but I understand what you imply.

Lots of people do wander around nude in Spain* and in fact it is probably illegal to designate a naturist area. FEN have debated this internally and have agreed they need to be careful. You may have noticed that they do not fight to delegate beaches as naturist. This is a problem for example when they want to challenge non naturist views in Cadiz.

* Of course I don't mean in the high street but in open countryside and beaches etc.

I have dug into my photo archive and have found a couple of photos of signs - the larger one was, I think, at the entrance to Natsun/Vera Luz and was taken in 2006. The smaller photo is of road signs which were around in some profusion but which have now - I think - all disappeared (but whether by being removed by the Council or by unofficial removal by people who disapprove of naturism I do not know).

As for the marker posts I mentioned in an earlier posting (above), I cannot locate any photos yet and I am beginning to wonder whether I imagined them!

The "Zona Naturista" sign that JMB refers to (and thought was still in place until she went to look and found it wasn't) was still in situ when the Google Street View camera car visited Vera Playa sometime in winter 2008/9. It can be very clearly seen and read. Just navigate to where JMB says it was situated and you will see.

I have many time went nude in the hotel street from Vera Natura. I visit in May and are often the only naturist there, but we have to use it, or the new road will become de facto textile.
I will come back in May and I will make my stroll from Vera Natura via the new road to the hotel.
I have never have had problem with me being a naturist in hotel street - either in shops nor restaurants.

Finally, a bit of progress!

Now, will it be viewed as a textile thoroughfare or will it be perceived as naturist?

I've also been wondering what, exactly, the status of this new road would be. When I visit VP I usually stay at the hotel, and dinner takes place in the Blue Parrot with such regularity that I'm thinking of having them designate 'your usual table, Sir?', like they do in all the best movies including playboys. Smiley Both the hotel and Hotel Street are, as we all know, are textile (either all the time or after 8pm. Therefore, I like to dress in T shirt, shorts and sandals, and carry a little rucksack that contains a towel at all times, plus my room key, bottle of water, etc. (Yes, I was in the Boy Scouts, since you ask, and still like to 'Be Prepared').

To help digest the meal, I have, in recent years, taken to having an evening constitutional around the ZN, and it's possible to strip off (usually at the electricity sub station at the top of Avenue Castellon) and take that walk as nature intended.

I'm coming to the point of this post presently Cheesy

I think I'm right in saying that the only sign that announces the Zona Naturista is the one at the top end of Avenue Castellon. There's no clear demarcation whatsoever anywhere else. I'm darned if I've ever seen a sign on Calle Valencia (i.e the road that leads to the Parque Aquatico and Consum) or on Calle Tortuga. Most people seem to regard the gate the Bahia de Vera as the 'unofficial' spot where they will strip off on their way back from Consum, for example.

I would have imagined it was easy to erect a few more signs, designating the 'Zona Naturista'. One on Calle Tortuga, at the entrance to Bahia, plus others for the opposite direction, with the words 'Zona Naturista' crossed out, would help people determine the status of the streets in question.

I think Calle Tortuga and Avenue Castellon pretty much form the entrances/exits to the ZN, so we aren't talking a great deal of money or planning here.

This new street beside Natura World opens up a third access road to the Zona, running between Hotel Street and Calle Tarragona. Tarragona is most definitely inside the ZN, so nudity is obviously fine here.

A simple sign declaring the Zona at one end of this new road at the side of Natura World would be immensely helpful, so that us walkers would know when it's safe/unsafe to walk as nature intended.

The obvious answer to me is that this sign is erected at the Hotel Street end of this new road, rather than the Tarragona end. Natura World is, after all, naturist, and thus this new road should be firmly declared to be inside the ZN.

Essentially, once you pass the Corner Bar, nudity should be acceptable and a sign to clarify this is a must.

(Forgive the long-windedness. I could talk about VP for hours! Roll Eyes )

hi  , im sure you will get some varied responses as we all want to have defined " borders" to prevent problems arising.  I dont like breaking rules and would appreciate the marked boundaries , however with or without them i understsand nudity itself is not illegal in spain so if you had a dominant view on being bare you could simply " just do it". I think the problem comes in agreement between vp users , the other locals and the authorities coming to agreement .
