Hey, I had 10 days in spain to create an impression, well actually lots of them....photographs, yep I travel Europe adding to my photo library and got the chance to incorporate some social life aswell. Frankies Bar was tops for friendly people, a good pint of Guiness and any other home comforts in the names of liquers and a good ole knees up. Well not being the official Herr Von GripCoin but I was on a tax man's budget so eating out wasnt frequent for me, but Frankies also showed their hand at good ol Cod, Chips and Mushy Green peas at fabulous value, a great start to an evening of live entertainment for young Sandy's 54th birthday.

Only sorry wasnt able to stop and say goodbyes as got a bug and then had to travel. But pop your head round the door for me and say hi from Phil (the real name!) LOL xx

Ah that explains the 'eclectic' mix of their personalities and outlook on life.
(I'm born and raised Nottingham and lived in Lancashire since for over 30 yrs and I had seen elements of both backgrounds)

Yes they are good hosts, fun and welcoming.  Smiley
I enjoyed their banter when we turned up with an oversize quiz group that grew and grew until it became two teams which ended up being partners vs their partners.

I am shocked ...  Shocked  you ask about a good restaurant and somewhere to eat, and it seems the British can only judge food by the quaility of the chips..................!Frankies bar is ok but do you go to spain to eat chips ....!
what about trying a Arroz a banda something from the country you are in .....
ps the chips in blackpool are good.

ps the chips in Blackpool are good.

As someone fairly local to Blackpool I beg to differ.
That's a general comment but most are poor. (especially on the prom)
Good chips and fish at Bispham though where the lights end.
Also good in Lytham.

garyherts

hello too true we are on the veraplaya site forum, but if you read the comments there is more about the quality of the ENGLISH CHIPS in vera .There is not much about the excellant food served up elsewhere, only frankies gets a mention, and to be honest Vera is spainish so i feel they should also have a word.
Even if this is an english site , it doesnot mean that the only good food is frankies food. What i wanted to say is when going to Veraplaya I feel everyone should support every english or spainish outlet. My comment about chips was to say that if this is the only thing that counts , then maybe people should stay at home.
TO my mind when going to some where like vera we should enjoy all the food , not shut ourselves in a english haven. When we were there in june we were over surprized to hear the english who live full time in vera ask , and answer in english, not even a thank you in spainish.it gives a bad impression and is not the best way to mix, and could account for some of the ways the spainish treat the english.
Maybe coming from switzerland and being surrounded by other countries we are use to mixing with other nations, and even speaking their mother tongues , but honestly come on England /english pull your socks up and enjoy spain as the spainish have made it .
If gin and tonic , beer and chips is all you want go to blackpool and buy a sun lamp...lol

I will, if they're white, and I can wear them with my open-toed sandals.  Grin

Maybe a knotted hankie on my head, too!  Smiley

Ah, sod it, why bother with all that nudity? Might as well just roll my trouser legs up while paddling.  Cheesy

Sadly, you're right.  The English are very bad at basic courtesies abroad.  It's not difficult, but generally they don't do it.

Intriguingly, I was in Gran Canaria last year, and was queuing at the kiosk bar at the nude beach, when it was my turn I ordered a beer in Spanish, said please, and thanked the lady in Spanish, and paid significantly less than the Brit who'd been before me.  Courtesy works!
