A pleasant walk from Vera Playa on a winter's day - or on one of the few less good days in other parts of the year - is to go along the beach to the north. The Punta de los Hornicos is the end of the long beach which starts at Garrucha and runs through Puerto Rey and Vera Playa and then turns gently to the right to become a short, low headland about 2 kms beyond the naturist zone. Beyond this headland the walk continues across the (normally) dry mouth of the Almanzora river to the attractive fishing village of Villaricos.
